Grow with us and make a difference! About this Position: The Bureau of Food Safety and Animal Health of MDARD has a mission to protect public health by ensuring both food safety and animal health.
This Student Assistant position assists the Human Food and Dairy, Feed and Produce Divisions' communication liaison with the development of internal and external communications for the bureau’s divisions, programs and units.
This position will help develop and write press releases, newsletter articles, reports, website and social media content, talking points, proclamations, and educational materials; and assist with event planning and crisis communications, as needed.
This position will assist staff in meeting department internal and external communication needs associated with updating of relevant materials including related initiatives and the Michigan Food Law; and help with MDARD’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program.
This is a non-career position that is limited to 129 hours per calendar month.
The official work location for this position is the Constitution Hall in Lansing.
This position may offer some agreed upon remote work arrangement.

Required Education and Experience Education Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
The ideal candidate will be a Junior or Senior in college.
Experience No specific type or amount is required.
