Duties and Responsibilities
Specific job knowledge, skills, and abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job:
Develop and continually enhance relationships with sports and business accounts.
Promote community awareness of the hotel and our market share.
Maintain accurate records of all pricing scales and activity reports submitted by internal and external clients.
Survey, review, and analyze competition, market trends, customer needs, and comments in order to develop new plans and programs.
Determine the effectiveness of current plans and programs.
Conduct SWOT analysis on hotel competitors.
Understand customer and market dynamics.
Engage with guests and fellow associates.
Negotiate rates with new and existing clients.
Solicit and negotiate business with new and existing clients through various efforts such as regular outside sales calls and daily prospecting for business referrals and networking.
Maximize room revenue and meeting space events to meet and exceed goals.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.
Must have excellent guest service skills.
Must be detailed oriented with outstanding organization and communication skills.
Must possess basic computational abilities, be able to use Windows and Outlook e-mail.
Must be able to accept and give constructive criticism, follow work rules, and work as part of a team.
Must be willing to travel and work in a global team of professionals.
Physical demands:
Most work tasks are performed indoors.
Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day, with extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen.
Must be able to stand and demonstrate a well-paced ability for up to 4 hours in length on occasion.
Requires substantial use of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate office equipment.
Occasionally requires carrying or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
Qualifications and requirements
Completion of a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing West rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities.
Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulation will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
