Job Description
*Job Title: * Recreation - Youth Development Professional (YDP)
*General Function: *The YDP for Recreation is responsible for implementing, and supervising Recreation activities for Club members ages 7-12.
The YDP reports directly to the Program Director.
*Knowledge & Experience:*
* Demonstrated skills in working with youth ages 7-12.
* Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and conducting group sessions and activities with youth.
* Basic knowledge of rules and skills related to social recreation games and activities.
* Strong communication skills (primarily oral), patience, and positive caring attitude.
* *Ability to actively supervise a busy environment.
*
*Position Requirements:*
* Supervise the activity area, volunteers, and members to ensure safety and that a reasonable code of behavior is being observed.
* Assist in developing an implementing new and traditional games room programs.
* Assist in the development of bulletin boards to promote activities and recognition of member achievements.
* Initiate group and individual guidance of members as needed on a daily basis.
* Communicate verbally and in writing (I.
M.
R.
, Maintenance Request, etc.
) daily with supervisor with respect to concerns about programs or members.
* Maintain accurate records for departmental activities and attendance.
* Supervise the care and maintenance of department equipment, supplies and facility.
* Request, in writing, needed supplies in sufficient time for program needs.
* Integrate the games room program in support of an in conjunction with the overall policies and mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing.
*End Result:*
* Well planned, organized, conducted, and maintained games room programs.
* Strong member participation and attendance in games room programs.
* Programs that meet the needs and interests of members while creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere.
* Encourage club members to participate in programs that meet their needs and interests, while creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere.
* Programs that enhance, develop, and teach goal-setting, and self-esteem.
* An atmosphere that encourages, teaches, and develops the skills of a variety of social recreation activities.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 3pm to 8pm.
(Hours may vary based on season.
)
