General Accountant - Mason, MI Location: US Gestamp Mason, US, US Gestamp Date: Feb 26, 2024 General Accountant JOB SUMMARY The General Accountant provides budgeting and accounting expertise to functional departments in areas of budgeting/strategic planning, AP & AR and cost target achievement; General Accounting and Operational reporting along with other projects/responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Tracking and reconciliation of departmental budgets and actual costs through weekly and monthly reports.
Develops and maintains budget and cost accounting reports for plan/actual/variance.
Creates capital equipment depreciation schedules and applies to monthly ledgers.
Reviews/audits cost ledger transactions on weekly and monthly basis.
Determines WIP valuation, including development of standard costs for overhead, labor, and purchased parts.
Assists with physical inventories and reconciliations.
Assists operating departments with strategic plans and coordinates/supports through creation and approval.
Supports departments in development of cost improvements including financial analysis and justification of capital expenditures.
Monthly and yearly closing entries and related reconciliations.
Accurately verify and invoice daily shipments to Customers.
Work closely with Customers and various associates to timely resolve invoicing and collection issues.
Track and explain status of all accounts receivable past dues.
Work with various departments to determine invoice pricing, retro payments, verifying/approving Customer debits, etc.
Quickly investigate and resolve Customer inquires/issues.
Daily monitoring and application of Customer accounts payments.
Reconciliation of all accounts including intercompany.
Prepare monthly aging and sales reports.
Work on various tasks/projects as requested.
Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately.
Keep work area clean and orderly to prevent safety hazards.
Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
Observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or 2 years job related experience for every year of college equivalency.
At least 2 years relevant cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Extensive experience with MAPICS or similar ERP system preferred.
SAP experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Exceptional skills with Excel and MS Office suite.
Excellent interpersonal & organizational skills required.
Strong problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Able to manage priorities.
Ability to work independently and also as a member of various teams.
Ability to train 2-3 months out of town at sister plant.
