Job Purpose
The Sr.
Corporate Tax Specialist is responsible for federal and state tax compliance and tax planning activities relating to Jackson National Life Insurance Company and certain of its affiliates.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepares state and local tax returns including premium, sales & use and income.
Works directly with state and local tax authorities to resolve return issues.
Maintains the tax compliance calendars.
Assists in the preparation of various components of federal income tax returns.
Assists in the preparation of statutory, GAAP and IFRS financial statement tax provisions.
Researches federal and state tax matters, making recommendations based on analysis.
Assists in special projects or reports (e.
g.
IRS audits, state audits, mergers and acquisitions).
Assists in analyzing tax consequences of actual and proposed transactions and makes appropriate recommendations.
Makes recommendations to improve efficiency and consistency across tax related functions.

Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of tax accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Superior verbal and written skills including the ability to articulate complex tax principles in a compelling manner to a diverse set of recipients.
Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and internal and external contacts.
Strong project management skills.
Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and other relevant department software.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree , preferably in Accounting or Finance, required.
Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
4+ years of experience in public accounting tax and/or corporate tax required.
Federal, state, and local tax experience required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
