The Michigan Supreme Court is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Payroll Administrator.
The Payroll Administrator processes payroll and assists in the administration of benefits for the judiciary.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Audit and enter payroll data for the judiciary;
• Investigate and resolve payroll issues and problems for the judiciary;
• Answer payroll and benefit questions for judiciary staff including judges and funding units throughout the State;
• Communicate and process all annual open enrollments for circuit, district and probate judges.
Add, change or remove coverage for judicial branch members as applicable;
• Collect and process the probate judges’ monthly 401(k) employer contributions;
• Collect annual FICA salary information from local/county payroll units for all judges.
Generate and review reports in order to reconcile and adjust each judge’s FICA tax deductions in the state’s payroll system.
Reimburse payroll units for FICA taxes withheld at the county level;
• Share information, communicate problems, and resolve issues for the judiciary, using the state’s human resources, payroll and benefits systems.
Maintain contact with various state departments and attend meetings concerning human resources, payroll and benefits;
• Respond to payroll requests from Friend of the Court offices, financial institutions, Office of Retirement Services and other agencies as appropriate on behalf of the judiciary;
• Send quarterly life insurance billings to probate judges for the state of Michigan life insurance and process the request to pay the life insurance company.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Skills acquired through high school or a GED equivalency and additional skills acquired through specialized training equivalent to one year of college, technical or business school concentrating in employee benefits, accounting, and payroll processes.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of payroll processing experience, including familiarity with the state's system.
KNOWLEDGE: State and Federal laws and regulations related to payroll administration.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external constituents and prioritize multiple payroll projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
WORK LOCATION: Official work-site location is the Hall of Justice.
Remote work may be available in accordance with the MSC/SCAO Remote Work Policy.
