The individual that fills the Billing Assistant position demonstrates they are capable of carrying out the following roles and responsibilities:
Accurately and efficiently perform and maintain billing clerical duties including, but not limited to:
Enter and/or update no show and/or canceled appointments using applicable software programs.
Update insurance that has changed in applicable software programs.
Scan and file electronic explanation of benefits (EOB’s) and provider relations documentation.
Assist in authorized payer(s) billing by adding data to the applicable electronic medical record (EMR) program as required.
Investigate and complete insurance verification process using applicable software programs.
Perform general office administrative tasks including, but not limited to:
Greet guests entering the office.
Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate staff.
Assist with collection(s) and processing incoming mail.
Monitor office equipment to ensure proper operation.
Contact persons served to obtain or relay account information.
Communicate and collaborate with all necessary team member(s) and/or person(s) served (i.
e.
, administrative staff, director(s), supervisor(s), parent(s), guardian(s), payer(s), etc.
).
Perform other duties or tasks as assigned.
Assist the billing specialist as needed.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local coding and billing laws.
Ensure accuracy by completing self-audits to verify completed work.
Ensure communication with supervisor on any identified discrepancies timely.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
18 years of age or older
Working telephone
Possess a valid driver’s license
Pass all regulatory checks
High school diploma or equivalent
Must maintain required trainings and/or requirements, which includes, but not limited to:
All CMH required trainings, initially and annually
Recipient Rights and confidentiality trainings/standards
TLC policies, procedures, work rules, ethical standards, and CARF standards
Ability to be a team player, including but not limited to, assisting program director, supervisor, team members, etc.
