Job Purpose
Performs more complex accounting functions to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger and financial statements.
Independently identifies issues for analysis and performs relevant research and reporting.
Essential Responsibilities
Applies accounting techniques and standard practices for the classification and recording of intermediate level financial transactions.
Selects appropriate approaches and techniques.
Independently identifies and investigates accounting issues and prepares appropriate reports for management.
Posts, balances and reconciles various invested asset accounts.
Reconciles custody bank activity.
May provide accounting support and administration for specific investment categories (such as derivatives, mortgage loans, limited partnerships, etc.
).
Other Duties
Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles and procedures.
Good understanding of Jackson products and systems.
Must be detail oriented, organized and able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Solid PC skills including MS Word, Access and Excel and other department software.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field required.
2+ years of work experience required.
