The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for the processing and maintenance of all functions of the Student and Labor payroll to meet payroll goals according to University policies and procedures.
Review and monitor reports for accuracy and timeliness, verify payroll information, resolve problems such as overpayments and late payments, and process garnishments.
Communicate with Human Resources and University departments to exchange information needed to resolve problems and meet deadlines.
Assist with other payrolls as needed.
Knowledge of hourly union contracts as it pertains to Payroll activities is needed.
This position is "remote-friendly" with the expectation of on-campus presence on a regular basis.
This is typically referred to as Hybrid; with the flexibility of regular remote work mixed with in-office work as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate’s degree in a business-related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in processing and reconciling payroll gross-to-net reduction/deduction; accounting, records maintenance; experience in spreadsheet and work processing software; knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, various IRS resident and non-resident alien tax forms and publications; and knowledge of database mainframe system concepts; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with relevant course work in business administration and information technology.
Extensive knowledge and demonstrated skills in matters related to payroll and accounting.
Experience with SAP Human Resources/Payroll or other HR/Payroll ERP software.
Extensive knowledge of Excel, University experience, ability to work with business services, human resources and academic units, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
